“Welcome to sadness. The temperature is unbearab “Welcome to sadness. The temperature is unbearable until you face it. Wanna hear a secret girls? Your bodies were destined to be controlled and objectified since before you were born. That horror is your birthright. But here’s another secret. You possess ancient strength. Ancient wisdom. The wisdom that has propelled every woman that came before you. That wisdom is also your birthright. I ask you today, make exercising that wisdom your life’s work because everything depends on it. F#ck the Supreme Court.”

Most uterine cancers begin in the endometrium (the Most uterine cancers begin in the endometrium (the lining of the uterus) where the cells shed each month when menstruating. Uterine cancer is more common post-menopause, although it can affect anyone with a uterus at any age.

About 90% of those diagnosed with uterine cancer have abnormal vaginal bleeding. This might be a change in their periods, bleeding between periods, or bleeding after menopause. Non-cancerous issues can also cause abnormal bleeding. But it's really important to have a GP check out any irregular bleeding. If you've gone through menopause, it’s VERY  important to report any vaginal bleeding, abnormal discharge or spotting, to your GP.

Non-bloody vaginal discharge may also be a sign. Even if you can't see blood in the discharge, it doesn't mean there's no cancer. Any abnormal discharge should be checked out by a medical professional.

Other signs and symptoms

pain during sex

pelvic or abdominal pain

pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis, lower abdomen, back or legs

pain during urination, difficulty urinating or blood in the urine

painful bowel movements, constipation or blood in the stool

bleeding from the bladder or rectum

buildup of fluid in the abdomen (called ascites) or in the legs called lymphedema)

weight loss

lack of appetite

shortness in breath

Please chat to your GP if you have any abnormal vaginal bleeding. While it’s unlikely to be caused by uterine cancer , it’s best to be sure.

Please don’t ignore symptoms or changes to your norm.

A cervical smear will not detect uterine cancer,so it’s super important to get any abnormal symptoms checked out. Your GP will most probably likely do a pelvic examination, chat to you about your symptoms and for how long things have been going.

It’s a good idea to check out our website and note down any you have pre visiting your GP.

You may be referred for further tests which can include a Transvaginal Ultrasound, biopsy, blood tests, CT scan, MRI scan.

Lower back pain is a common ovarian cancer symptom Lower back pain is a common ovarian cancer symptom.

OVARIAN CANCER

1 New Zealander dies from it every 48 hours.

On average only 4 out of 10 diagnosed with ovarian cancer will survive five years after diagnosis. This compares to 9 in 10 women surviving breast cancer in the same period, we need to ensure that this statistics for ovarian make the amazing progress that breast has.

Know the signs!! Its imperative you do. ?? WHY

Because there is no screening test for ovarian cancer, early diagnosis is your best chance at survival, a late diagnosis is very hard to beat.

If symptoms are present and have been ongoing for 2 weeks or more request a transvaginal ultrasound and a CA125 blood test.

Signs and symptoms:
Persistent bloating
Pelvic/abdominal pain
Fatigue
Back pain
Indigestion
Changes in bowel habits-constipation, diarrhoea, painful bowel movements
Urgency/frequency to pee
Feeling full quickly, difficulty eating
Pain during sex
Menstrual irregularities
Bleeding between periods
Bleeding post menopause

The key to an early diagnosis and/ or peace of min The key to an early diagnosis and/ or peace of mind is getting changes check out.

1 person in New Zealand dies every 24 hours from a gynaecological cancer.

You know your body better than anyone else. If you notice any changes that aren't the norm for you and that have continued for 2 weeks or more seek medical advice.

NEVER feel silly asking for things to be investigated.

You know your body better than anyone else.

Be the squeaky wheel!
